BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide derived from a naturally occurring protein in the stomach, consisting of 15 amino acids. It has been shown to accelerate healing in muscles, tendons, ligaments, and inflammatory bowel conditions such as ulcers, leaky gut, and Crohn’s disease. BPC-157 promotes tissue repair by enhancing angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), reducing inflammation, and protecting the gut lining.
BPC-157, a peptide consisting of 15 amino acids, has been studied in animal models for its potential to promote the healing of tissues such as tendons, joints, nerves, and the gastrointestinal tract.(1,2) It is believed to work through mechanisms like promoting nitric oxide synthesis, stimulating tissue-repair cells, encouraging growth factor production, and reducing inflammation.
In studies of the beneficial effects of BPC-157,a potential therapeutic improvement was found for central nervous disorders. The peptide was shown to counteract brain damage from stroke, improve memory and motor function, and support gene expression in the hippocampus. BPC 157 also alleviated symptoms in models of schizophrenia and catalepsy by influencing the nitric oxide and dopamine systems. Additionally, it promoted healing and functional recovery after spinal cord injury. Overall, BPC 157 appears to offer broad therapeutic benefits, addressing brain damage, neurotransmitter disturbances, and inflammation. (3)
There are also studies that suggest that this peptide promotes healing and functional restoration of completely transected quadriceps muscle in rats. Administered systemically, BPC-157 accelerates muscle healing, improving biomechanical strength, functional recovery, and muscle regeneration over a 72-day period. Muscle fibers reconnect, gaps close, and the muscle’s appearance and function return near normal levels. This suggest that BPC-157 may have therapeutic potential for treating muscle injuries and disorders. (4)
